Our standard
Every job we do, whether it's a ten-minute privet trim on the High Street or a two-year staged leylandii reclamation in Borstal, gets held to the same six-point standard. This is what that means in practice, and why we don't flex on it.
Every job gets a nesting check against the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 window (1 March to 31 August) and a stem-diameter check against the Rochester Conservation Area 75mm threshold, before any cutting starts. If either applies, we tell you what it means for timing or paperwork before we quote, not after we've started.
You get a number before we arrive, not an estimate that turns into an invoice. If the job runs longer than expected because of something we should have caught at quote stage, that's on us, not you.
We carry an Environment Agency upper-tier waste-carrier registration. Clippings and cuttings go to a proper waste site or get chipped. Nothing gets burned on site, nothing gets left in a pile "for the council to collect" - that's not how Medway Council's service works and we won't leave you with that problem.
If your address needs a section-211 notice to Medway Council, or a TPO application, we file it ourselves as part of the quoted price. We don't hand you a form and wish you luck.
We don't take payment until you've walked the hedge with us and you're satisfied. If something's not right, we put it right before asking for a penny.
This is the one that's specific to how we work. Most hedge-care sites give you a wall of generic advice. We'd rather you ask the actual question you have - about your leylandii, your boundary, your Conservation Area address - and get answered like you're talking to the person doing the job, because you are. That's why the guides section is built as questions and answers, not blog posts.
